Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve was formed in 1986, in 1987 Sian Ka’an was named one of the seven World Hertiage sites in the state of Quintana Roo. To date there have been over 200 projects completed regarding the conservation of the land, sea reefs, and wild life. The Muyil Archeological Site is also located here. This is one of the earliest and longest inhabited communities.
This excursion though will take you through the Reserve it self to the village of Punta Allen. Once there, a boat ride through the lagoon to experience turtle, dophins, and local birds. This is a nice leisurely trip through the lagoon and into the ocean. Snorkel in the shallow waters to get a glance of the different types of fish and coral. Upon return to the dock, a nice lunch overlooking the lagoon awaits.
